Student Government Association elections at UT bring a change in ambiance this year through three different tickets.
Amplify, one of the campaigns running, has candidates that include Lindsay Lee for President, Cole Liles for Vice-President, and Lindsey Huff for Student Services.
The campaign motto chants, "Equality, Effectiveness, and Ownership." Amplify believes that students can become empowered by their election.
"SGA should never sit on the sidelines," said Lindsay Lee, Amplify's presidential candidate."SGA should never sit on the sidelines." - Lindsay Lee, Amplify's presidential candidate
The Amplify ticket declares that the lack of transparency and change can no longer be tolerated.
They do not see the administration as an enemy. Instead, they are concerned by the cycle of complacency and apathy which stems from the disbelief of prior SGA members.
Amplify desires to use their platform to bring collective action to the concerns of UT students. They believe the potential is great, but more momentum is needed.
The opportunity for equality is greatly desired by many students at UT. Amplify hopes to voice the frustrations of undergraduates. Equality concerns bring about discussion for gender-neutral housing options, accessibility for students with disabilities, sustainability and representation for transfer students.
Voting begins April 3 at 6 a.m and ends April 4 at 5 p.m.
