No. 16 Tennessee faces LSU in the first round of the SEC Tournament next Thursday in Nashville.
That much we know.
The Vols clinched third place in the SEC East with Wednesday's win over Arkansas on Senior Night. That ensured a first round contest with an LSU team that finished last in the West and has won just a single conference game.
But before the Vols can meet the Tigers, there's still one more regular season game left on the schedule: Saturday's game at Mississippi State.
The Bulldogs enter the game still looking to clinch the SEC West title after failing to do so Wednesday at Auburn. Saturday is Senior Night at MSU, as two record-breaking Bulldogs play their final home game.
Jarvis Varnado became the NCAA career leader in blocked shots last month, and he now has 540 blocks in his career (146 this season). The Tennessee-native is the only player in NCAA history to total 1,000 points, 1000 rebounds and 500 blocks in a career.
Fellow Bulldog Barry Stewart holds MSU's school-record for career 3-pointers with 268, and each player has started 100 consecutive games.
However, neither is the Bulldogs leading scorer this season, as junior Ravern Johnson leads the team with 13.8 points per game. Varnado ranks second on the team at 13.5 points per game, while Dee Bost (12.9) and Stewart (11.7) also score in double figures.
MSU is 12-2 at home this season, but Tennessee has actually won the last two meetings between the teams in Starkville.
The Vols would improve to .500 on the road this season with a win over the Bulldogs. Seniors Wayne Chism and Quinn Cannington need one win to become the winningest Vols of all-time, as they enter Saturday tied with last season's seniors.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, with television coverage on ESPN.
