The Historic Tennessee Theatre kicked off the Summer Movie Magic series Friday with Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid at 8 p.m.

Since its re-opening in 2005, the Tennessee Theatre has brought classic films back to life on the big screen each summer.

This year, fan favorites are an important part of the movie line-up.

"We chose the films shown based on customer recommendations we received, mostly through emails," Brandy Blaylock, box office assistant manager remarked.

Other popular movies on the schedule this year include Audrey Hepburn's iconic Breakfast at Tiffany's and the beloved family musical The Wizard of Oz.

To reach a wider audience, each movie has two showings: Friday evenings at 8 p.m. and a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.

For less than the price of a regular movie ticket, you get to see a timeless film and also enjoy the tunes of the newly restored organ, The Mighty Wurlitzer, played by Dr. Bill Snyder before each event.

The Summer Movie Magic series runs from June 25 through August 22. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for children and seniors and can be purchased by phone, online and in person at the theatre box office.

Doors open one hour prior to show time.

Information about parking and directions to the theatre is available on the web site, http://tennesseetheatre.com/plan-your-visit/directions-parking/.
