Three UT students were hit by a black Toyota Camry on a crosswalk by Hodges Library on Jan. 29.

Shan Luo, a freshman at UT, was the first to be struck by the car. She was rushed to UT Medical Center and was released that evening with deep bruising. Luo was able to return to classes Monday.

Zilan Shi, a freshman at UT, was hit directly after Luo. Shi was seriously injured and required two surgeries at UT Medical Center. She was released Friday, Feb. 5 and is currently recovering and plans to return to classes this week.

Eric Jobe, a sophomore at UT, was able to walk away from the scene without any serious injuries. According to Jobe, the car made contact with one of his legs, which is still badly bruised.

The name of the driver and his charges have not been released.

"Drivers just need to pay attention. There were at least 10 of us walking [across the street] so he had plenty of time to notice us," Jobe said. "The pedestrians weren't doing anything wrong; he just needed to pay more attention."

Information concerning this accident will be updated as soon as more is released.
