On Feb. 9, top professionals in the public relations field will teach students how to "sell" their skills from previous jobs and explain how these skills can be marketable assets to a business. UT's Sammie Lynn Puett Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America will hold its "Selling Your Skills" meeting at 7 p.m. in the Communications Building.
Professionals from companies such as WVLT-TV, TVA, Curved Edge Marketing and the UT Institute of Agriculture will share some things they have seen in the past when hiring for positions.

"I had a friend who was an athlete on the Lady Vols basketball team that claimed she had no experience. She actually had tons of valuable experience as an athlete that she'd never thought of, such as her ability to work in a team, her discipline and responsibility to multitask as a student athlete," Ellen Liston, communications director for East Tennessee Children's Hospital, said.
This workshop is available to all majors and can be useful to anyone who will soon enter the job market. With this market becoming increasingly competitive, it is essential that students are prepared and utilize the tools they have in college.
