Tee Martin has traded the Big Orange for the Big Blue. The former national champion quarterback at Tennessee has been hired as wide receivers coach at Kentucky.
Martin spent last season as quarterbacks coach at New Mexico. The move reunites Martin and Randy Sanders, who served as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator during Martin's career at Tennessee. Sanders serves in both of those same positions with the Wildcats
After serving as a back-up to Peyton Manning for two seasons, Martin took over as the starter his junior season and led the Vols to a 23-16 victory over Florida State to claim the National Championship following the 1998 season. Martin also led the Vols to a BCS bowl during his senior campaign.
He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2000 and was also on the roster of the Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders during his brief NFL career. He spent a pair of seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League before retiring from professional football in 2005.
