The Medic Regional Blood Center is hosting their annual Lady Vol "Bleed Orange" Competition all week, ending Friday.

The blood drive is calling all Lady Vol fans wanting to beat Vanderbilt on the court and with blood donations to come out and support the Vols. All blood donors will receive a free Lady Vols t-shirt, a free Chick-fil-a chicken biscuit coupon and a free Reese's treat.

It is truly one way you can impact the community.

Christi Fightmaster, director of public relations at Medic Regional Blood Center, hopes this year's turn out will be much better than 2009. "At the student center, there was an average of about 50 donors, and [Medic] has the capabilities to have 150 donors," she said.

"A lot of people are looking for ways to make a difference and for some reason blood donation doesn't seem to come to mind," Fightmaster said.

The rival school's blood competition has been going on for eight years. Two years ago, Vanderbilt won and last year the Vols came out victorious. Fightmaster hopes that the Vols will win again this year as well.

Blood drive locations are set up in the University Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 1-4 and at the Agriculture campus from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 4. Off campus locations are available as well: 1601 Ailor Ave. and 11000 Kingston Pike.
