UT will hold its semiannual Study Abroad Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 30. The fair will be held in the UC Ballroom and is sponsored by the Programs Abroad Office.
Students who come to the fair will be able to talk to representatives from different programs and internships as well as faculty and students who have studied abroad in the past. Staff from both the Programs Abroad Office and the Financial Aid Office will also be available to help answer questions, added Heather Grigsby, a Programs Abroad coordinator.
Studying abroad also allows students to experience first-hand a culture...which broadens their world view and allows the student to grow as a person. Heather Grigsby, Programs Abroad coordinator
The Study Abroad Fair is an integral part of UT's Ready for the World program. The program seeks to enhance students' cultural awareness and gives them an international education.
"[Studying abroad] enhances your college education by adding a new cultural perspective to your learning experience," Grigsby said.
No matter what you want to study, there is a place for you. While Grigsby said that Europe is the most popular destination, specifically Italy and Spain, there are programs in more than 50 countries. This makes it easy for students to find a program that fits both their educational and financial needs.
Grigsby stressed the importance of studying abroad during students' college careers.
"Studying abroad also allows students to experience first-hand a culture, language, and academic and social environment other than their own which broadens their world view and allows the student to grow as a person," she said.
For more information about studying abroad visit the Programs Abroad Office at 1620 Melrose Ave. The Programs Abroad Office also holds daily information sessions at 2 p.m.
