Dare to think differently?  Students For Liberty, a new student organization that combines We The People of UT with the national organization Students For Liberty, may be for you.

The organization's chapter at UT had its first meeting Sept. 2.

If you believe you know yourself better than the government knows you, then this organization is for you. Anna Parker, organizer of Students For Liberty Anna Parker is the organizer for the club.

"If you believe you know yourself better than the government knows you, then this organization is for you," Parker said.

The club aims to be a place where libertarians can come and discuss their views in an open environment.

Parker stresses that the club is not affiliated with the Libertarian Party.

In a day and age when there seems to be only two main parties, Students For Liberty wants to show students there is another way of thinking.

"If we can get people to look beyond this basic assumption then the organization has accomplished something," Parker said.

Besides discussions, the club will be involved in movements and protests that wish to restrict government and leave the lives of people in the hands of the individual person.

Students For Liberty is already planning events for the semester, including a conference in October and a trip to protest in Washington D.C. on Sept. 12.
