Also Monday, the Ailey II Experience dance troupe performs at the Clarence Brown Theatre at 7 p.m. Sponsored by the Black Cultural Programming Committee, tickets are available through the UT Central Ticket Office. Tuesday, Seth Glier will perform with Robin Aigner and Annie Crane for the Blue Plate Special in the Visitor Center at the corner of Gay Street and Summit Hill Drive. Glier has attracted positive attention with a new album release and invitation to perform at the upcoming South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival. You can see this 20-year-old up-and-comer free in downtown Knoxville at noon.

Also Tuesday, the Blount Mansion, 200 W. Hill Avenue, will host Harvest of History. From 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., enjoy costumed interpreters, live music by the Knoxville Dulcimer Club and Colonial themed food and drink. The house served as the executive residence of William Blount, the only Governor of the Southwest Territory (1790-1796) and Tennessee's first US Senator (1796-1798). Blount Mansion's authentic furnishings recreate and preserve its 18th century appearance.
Wednesday is the first chance to inspect the items up for bid at the costume auction at the Clarence Brown Theatre Thursday. Inspection hours are 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 15, the Clarence Brown Theatre will host a public costume auction featuring approximately 185 lots of theatrical costumes, vintage clothing, accessories and fabrics. Costumes are suitable for productions and special events including fantasy, Medieval, Renaissance and bridal. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Bidding begins at 10 a.m.
Also, Thursday marks the opening night of Boo! at the Zoo. This costume event runs Oct. 15-18 and Oct. 22-25. Admission for this spooky celebration is $6 ($5 for Zoo members).
Friday, WIMZ radio kicks off a three day Classic Rock Art Show at Town & Country Circle shopping center (near Guitar Center) off North Peters Road. The station will broadcast live from the art show Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. All works are for sale to the public.
Friday, the Gourds will play at The Square Room for the Blue Plate Special at noon. You can see them perform at 4620 Reinvented for $12 on Thursday night, or wait until they, along with Lonesome Meadows, take the downtown stage behind Cafe 4 for free.
Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will play light classical music in a free quartet performance at Border's Books, Music and Movies at 7 p.m. Friday night in the cafe.
The adventure continues with Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade at 8 p.m. at Market Square. This is the final movie of the Movies on Market Square series presented by the Knox County Public Library. Lawn chairs are welcome and admission is free. If weather is a concern, as it was last week, view live shots with Market Square's Web cam before you go.
Also Friday, Where the Wild Things Are opens in theaters. This adventure follows Max as he escapes to an island of wild things where things are more complicated than they originally seem. Author Maurice Sendak teams with director Spike Jonze to bring the much loved book to the big screen.
Saturday, explore Indian culture at the Spirit of Nations Traditional Powwow in Krutch Park. Beginning at 9 a.m. the powwow will feature a variety of traditional American Indian dances, Native American arts and crafts, Indian food including Indian Frybread, drumming, music and story telling. Grand entries are scheduled for noon and 6 p.m. Admission is free. Lawn chairs are permitted.
Also in Market Square Saturday (South End), stop off for the 3rd Annual Time Warp Vintage Motorcycle Club Bike Show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The show is free. This event will run in conjunction with the regular Saturday Farmers Market.
Exhibition play begins for the Knoxville Ice Bears at the Civic Coliseum Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to this opener are only $7.
Note: Beginning Sunday, Oct. 11, Kingston Pike will be reduced to two lanes at the intersection of Forest Park Boulevard for a year-long construction project to replace the bridge over the Norfolk Southern tracks. Delays are expected, as are some changes to the KAT bus routes.
