A1LabArts will host "10," an art sale, at the Fireproof Storage building on Dec. 4 from 7-10 p.m. John Fairstein short films will kick off the event.
The name of the sale is "10" because each artist will have ten reproductions for purchase. The art sale will present a variety of media, including handmade items, photos and sound art, all made by the local artists.
"You won't find this range of art at other sales....a little bit of everything!" Sara Blair, host of "10" and member of A1LabArts board said.
This one-night only sale will also feature a mini film festival featuring John Fairstein's short films such as A Sink and a Wink, Get Up! and Farmbook 2.
Fairstein started his film career in Hollywood by driving a truck from the studio to the lab and serving as an extra in Hollywood films. Inspired by his own experience, Fairstein began to take interest in making films of his own in the 1970s.
After 30 years as a painter and photographer, Fairstein picked up his passion for film in a new century and resumed his experiments.
Being an enthusiastic supporter of the A1LabArts, Fairstein views "10" as a good opportunity to relate his new films with the community.
"I have been a long time member of A1LabArts, even serving on the board once. I am an ardent supporter because they have some of the best artists and shows in town," Fairstein said.
Established in 1995 by a group of local artists, and now associated with Fireproof Productions, A1LabArts is dedicated to multi-disciplinary and experimental exploration of contemporary art issues in all media.
The sales income will benefit local artists and keep A1LabArts going as a nonprofit organization. Blair encourages people to come and enjoy a night of free exhibition and affordable art pieces.
"Being the season for present giving....these will be great gifts and will help to support the local arts all at once."
The Fireproof Storage building is located at 201 Randolph St., east of the Old City.
