A UT fraternity has been sanctioned by university officials, according to Knoxville News Sentinel reports. Phi Gamma Delta has been sanctioned as a result of an underage drinking issue that occurred on Oct. 21. The fraternity was officially sanctioned by the university on Nov. 6.

"Because it was determined that alcohol consumption began through an official event at the Phi Gamma Delta house, the fraternity received the following sanctions: Social probation through the end of spring 2010 semester (and) disciplinary probation through the end of spring 2010 semester," UT spokeswoman Karen Collins said in an interview with Knoxville News Sentinel reporters.

Collins went on to say that if any other violations occur during this time frame, the fraternity could be suspended. She added that the Knoxville Police Department is also investigating the incident.

The News Sentinel reports that Jordan Baxter Felts, 18, of Knoxville was taken to UT Medical Center at about 12:11 a.m. on Oct. 21 for an alcohol-related illness, according to a UTPD incident report.
