The Valarium hosted Peaches Tuesday Nov. 10 for the first time. Peaches is an electroclash musician mixing elements of dance music and punk rock. Basically, if Greg Ginn played synthesizer and New Order had a female singer, Peaches would be the result.
The night was devoted to electronic beats, dancing with the opening band MEN. JD Samson of Le Tigre's band kept everyone dancing while waiting for Peaches.
Peaches is a great musician, but more importantly a great entertainer. After what seemed an hour lag between sets, octopus like people emerged on stage and within seconds Peaches launched through her first song "Lost You." The entire dance floor sang but it wasn't until songs like "Talk to Me" or "Boys Wanna Be Her" did the crowd let loose and dance their hearts out.
Peaches is a great musician, but more importantly a great entertainer. She knows how to keep fans happy by playing encores of "Set It Off" and engaging the audience through crowd-surfing.
Peaches serves up great music and a side of naughty. Peaches stripped promptly out of her octopus to a tight-fitting pink leather ensemble and yes "we wanna be her."
Even with technical difficulties Peaches entertained the entire venue and gave the audience an energetically naughty show that Knoxville needs more of.
