Kiffin on arrests: "We'll deal with it as it comes"

Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin waited over 15 hours after the initial arrests of Tennessee freshmen football players Janzen Jackson, Nu'Keese Richardson and Mike Edwards to make a statement, and when he did, there wasn't much of one.

"The only thing I can give you is that Janzen has been released, and we'll deal with three situations coming up. But, until we have all the information I can't comment any further on it," Kiffin said Thursday after practice.

Jackson, Richardson and Edwards were found Thursday morning around 2 a.m. and then arrested and held for attempted robbery at the Pilot convenience store located on Cumberland ave.

As of 6 p.m. Thursday, Mike Edwards had also made bail and had been released from jail.

Kiffin wouldn't go much further, only saying he was waiting for all the details before he makes a final decision.

"Well, we're gathering all the information, so we don't know exactly what happened. Unfortunately, there was an incident. We made it 11 months, 11 days without any instances, so we'll deal with this as it comes in," Kiffin said.

The first-year head coach wouldn't elaborate on whether or not the players were suspended; simply saying he didn't have all the information and would wait to do something until then. Kiffin wouldn't comment on whether or not he has spoken to the players, repeatedly stating he will deal with the incidents as they come.

"We've got to get the information in. We're not making any judgments until we have all the information in, and we'll go from there once we get it," Kiffin said in response to whether or not he would resolve the issue before Tennessee's game at Ole Miss on Saturday.

"I'll have to get all the information in. Talk to all the people and figure out exactly what happened. Like I said, the only thing I have on it is that Janzen's been released," Kiffin continued.

Jackson and Richardson both had recent team-related incidents, including Jackson being suspended for the Memphis game.

Kiffin was asked whether or not the two getting into more trouble disappointed him.

"There's no disappointment, there's no nothing right now, because I don't have all the information in. When I get all the information in I'll make a decision," Kiffin explained.

After Kiffin repeatedly telling reporters he was not giving anything away, he let them know the conversation was over.

"I'm not going to get involved in all this stuff guys, that's it. We're going (to talk about) practice."
