The finals of Smokey's Howl, a cheerleading and dance competition between student organizations on campus, was held in Neyland Stadium on Friday evening as part of homecoming week.
The seven teams that competed were the top teams from Wednesday's preliminary round giving them a few extra days to tighten their routines. The teams looked sharp and put on a good show for the students and alumni in attendance.

The teams danced to music with themes like rock and roll, Memphis and Tennessee. The teams incorporated tumbling, cheering and stunts into their routines.
Before the student organizations performed, the UT cheerleading team led the crowd in cheers about beating Memphis in the upcoming game. The Pride of the Southland marching band played "Rocky Top" and other crowd favorites. The UT dance team performed a routine to Swiperboy's "Eric Berry for Heisman."
Before Smokey's Howl started, All Campus Events, the organization in charge of homecoming planning, crowned the 2009 homecoming queen, Courtney Holder of Gamma Sigma Sigma.
The winner of Smokey's Howl will be announced during half-time of the homecoming football game.
