Spoilers Ahead!

After last week's Gossip Girl, Serena is on the outs with a lot of her friends. She and Nate are not on good terms and this almost keeps her off the guest list to an exclusive election party thrown for Trip Van der Bilt at Chuck's new hotel.

Serena and Blair are feuding and in competition with one another. Serena claims that Blair's new friend, that she brings to the election party, is a high price call girl. Blair claims that Serena is getting paid to date Patrick, the actor being represented by the public relations firm Serena works for. Both accounts are true. The girls don't make up and Serena ends up pushing Blair into the election cake.

By the end of the party Blair calls off her friendship with the prostitute, Serena quits her job at the agency and they're still not friends.

"This night is finally over and as far as I'm concerned, so are we." Blair said. This night is finally over and as far as I'm concerned, so are we. Blair Waldorff

Blair and Serena have been friends for 18 years and it seems unlikely that they will be enemies forever. Their reconciliation is inevitable.

The election, on the other hand, is full of drama before the party even gets started. Trip is running for congress and the polls are not certain who is ahead. In an attempt to be an honest politician, Trip refuses the scandalous help of his grandfather.

Trip saves a man from drowning in the Hudson River, but the video footage reveals that the man jumped into the river in hopes of Trip saving him. When Vanessa sells the footage and the hoax becomes public, Trip and Nate confront their grandfather. He claims that he had no part in the scheme.

Nate confesses that he sent the man to jump in the Hudson River to make Trip look like a hero to all of the New York voters, but the family knows that he's only taking the political fall for his cousin.

In the end, it turns out Trip's wife planned the hoax. No one expected her to have the brains or the resources to carry out such a well-planned deception. It was an interesting twist.
