At any level of college sports, it's rare to see a freshman get a lot of playing time. Nick Hernandez was an exception. He grew up around baseball and brought his experience and strong arm to Knoxville. In his freshman season of 2007 he was fourth on the team in appearances (21) and innings pitched (52) and started eight games for the Vols. Hernandez just completed his junior season as one of the go-to pitchers for Tennessee.
