The Grammy-award winning stand-up comedian returns to Knoxville showcasing his new one-man show, "Let Them Eat Cake".
Black has been a stand up comedian for two decades now. He is known for his original comedic style: a mix of angry ranting and a person who seems to be testing limits with his personal sanity. He delivers his perspective through sarcasm, lovely use of profanity with a nice touch of shouting to get his point across. He discusses diverse topics that perverse our society today: including politics, pop culture, and , an always favorite, the media. His comedic influences include the late George Carlin, the late Richard Pryor and Lily Tomlin.
Black is also an accredited actor, playwright and actor. He is best known for his reoccurring guest role on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, showcasing his commentary segment "Back in Black". He is also the host of Comedy Central's The Root of All Evil. He has been featured in movies, including "Accepted" co-starring Justin Long in 2006.
In 2007, he won a Grammy for Best Comedy Album for "The Carnegie Hall Performance". In 2008, he released a new book entitled Me of Little Faith, where he discusses religions of all types and on his own upbringing as a non-practicing Jew. He has also released a new album entitled Anticipation. You can buy both and other works in stores nationwide or online.
What you can expect from Black is a refreshing use of anger management on reality in American society while trying to survive the chaos. Black performs this evening at Historic Tennessee Theatre at 8 p.m.
