Otis Redding- "I've Been Loving You"
Anyone can sing a love song, but not everyone can convincingly sing about such a strong emotion. Otis Redding moves you with his music, and "I've Been Loving You" is no exception. The lyrics tell a story of a man who cannot halt his love for a woman, but Redding's voice describes the pain involved in a relationship. The passion in this song rivals all other love songs, and you cannot have love without some blues.

Though relatively unconventional, John Mayer's "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" really is a valid choice for the most preferred love song award. Once you get past the fact that it's about a break-up, you can see that it's filled with passion and reality. On top of that, it's built upon one of the sexiest melodies that these ears have ever tuned in to. Basically, this song encompasses the ideology of a real life [un- Hollywooded] relationship, the idea that sometimes things just don't work out. It's got a heart-melting tune with a heart-rending tone, and it's got a hopeful message with an imminent forewarning. No, it's not a "kiss to build a dream on," but it is raw and it's packed full of truth. And it's my favorite my love song, no matter how sardonic you think that makes me.

Valentine's Day has come again huh? Well Stacy this one goes out to you. I didn't forget this year honey. Maybe one day we'll be able to look back and laugh about me wrecking your car on my way to buy you a last minute present. The fact that I didn't break up with you after you yelled and hit me is a testament to our relationship girl, and if there's one song that exemplifies our relationship it's this one. Riskay's "Smell Yo Dick." Now, Stacy, I know you would have wanted me to put up Tupac's "Hit Em Up" but that's not a love song and you're just going to have to get over it dammit, because I'm not coming back to the apartment with my half of the room trashed again!

I have many favorite love songs, but right now I love Beyonce's "Halo" from her new album, "I am...Sasha Fierce". I am a die hard Beyonce fan so I love her entire album, but this one really lights up my life. Beyonce speaks of an unexpected, triumphant love. Everyone knows that love is about taking a risk; allowing someone to break your heart but trusting them not to. Beyonce alludes to this by saying that he is her dream guy and she believes this because she can see his "Halo". I know the feeling so it is as if I feel I am connected to the song because there is nothing better than being swept off of your feet!?

“Kiss the Girl” -- The Little Mermaid
This simple and sweet song emphasizes a moment in relationships that is usually considered commonplace after a date or two, the kiss. Although it may seem small and insignificant as we become more sexual people, it is nice to remember the feeling of butterflies in your stomach when you first met that person that makes you feel special and in love. Like love, the song has a dream-like quality and makes you feel good inside. Doesn’t every little girl want to imagine herself as a Disney princess and live happily ever after?

I'm a big fan of R & B but country music is the ultimate genre to find the sweetest love songs. My favorite would have to be "Take me There" by Rascal Flatts. This song represents a more significant love than just physical; it truly touches on the meaningful aspect of a relationship. The part where you know so much about the other person that you feel you've always been a part of their life and vice versa. The words may be simple, (and I know too many of you out there will immediately banish the thought of any country song being good) but isn't simplicity beautiful? This song goes deeper than passion and lust, which are what most new songs these days seem to revolve around.

I thought a lot about this one. I'm a complete sucker for ballads, so there was an almost infinite number of possibilities. I had to choose the song that best defined what love means to me. I decided that song was the gorgeous "You're Still The One" by Shania Twain. I'm in no way a fan of country music, but this beautiful number describes what I think love is--a companionship. The thought of being so much in love with someone that it lasts a lifetime is the ultimate dream for those of us with hearts that tend to melt. I fall under this category, which is why I have to dedicate this selection to my own wonderful companion. Happy Valentine's Day!
