Relay for Life will host its first Survivors' Breakfast Friday, Feb. 13.
The event is open to all Knoxville survivors.
"Whether you are currently fighting your battle, or have been cancer-free for many years, you are a survivor," Relay for Life's website says.
UT's Relay for Life board planned the event as a "celebration of the lives [survivors] lead," according to Beth Hall, survivorship chairperson.
Participants will be informed of ways to get involved with Relay, and Smoky Mountain Cancer Support Group will attend. Lori Tucker, WATE-TV news anchor and president of the local American Cancer Society, is designated to be master of ceremonies.
Ashley Bowen, UT Relay public relations chairperson, said, "We are so excited to bring this to Knoxville. Relay isn't just about kids raising money. It's about supporting people who have battled cancer."
The program starts at 10 a.m. in the University Center's Hermitage Room.
