The Pride of the Southland Band will march past new scenery during 2009 home games as changes to the game day schedule have forced the band to march down the Pedestrian Mall.

The Pride, which traditionally began its march on Volunteer Blvd., will instead start on the Pedestrian mall next to Hess Hall and continue marching down Andy Holt Ave. to the base of The Hill.

From there, the band will resume its normal game day tradition of the "Salute to The Hill," a 10-minute concert of Tennessee songs the band plays at the corner of Phillip Fulmer Way and Andy Holt Ave.

The march location had to be changed because the start time was been moved closer to kickoff. The time of the Vol Walk was moved closer to game time as well, and since The Pride sends a pep band to perform at this event (and because organizers didn't want the two events to overlap), the march was forced to start later.

Lane Kiffin and his staff changed the timing of The Vol Walk to leave less down time for the players in the locker room before the game.

Did you know? "Rocky Top" is not UT's official fight song? "Down the Field" is the official fight song for the university, but is typically only played at football games due to its lyrics.

UT's marching band always stops at the base of The Hill to perform a 10-minute concert called the "Salute to The Hill."
