1. Detroit Lions - Matthew Stafford, QB (Georgia): To make this simple, the Detroit Lions need everything. They will settle for a quarterback in Georgia's Matthew Stafford, in hopes of finding a new face for the franchise.
2. St. Louis Rams - Jason Smith, OT (Baylor): Orlando Pace is out of St. Louis which clears the way for the athletic and promising tackle, Baylor's Jason Smith.
3. Kansas City Chiefs - Aaron Curry, LB (Wake Forest): the Chiefs need everything on defense, and Curry's the only one worth the money.
4. Seattle Seahawks - Mark Sanchez, QB (USC): The pre-draft hype is simply too much. For better or for worse, Seattle takes the bait.
5. Cleveland Browns - Brian Orakpo, DE (Texas): With Aaron Curry off the board, the Browns go with the next best defensive athlete to shore up their defense.
6. Cincinnati Bengals - Eugene Monroe, OT (Virginia): Cincinnati opts for someone to protect the frail Carson Palmer.
7. Oakland Raiders - Michael Crabtree, WR (Texas Tech): Crabtree is the best player in this draft. If he drops to No. 7, it'd be the equivalent of Adrian Peterson falling to fifth-overall to Minnesota when he went pro.
8. Jacksonville Jaguars - Jeremy Maclin, WR (Missouri). Jacksonville just signed Maurice Jones-Drew and will be looking to add a threat to their depleted receiving unit.
9. Green Bay Packers - B.J. Raji, DT (Boston College): With Green Bay switching to a 3-4, they will need a dominant nose-tackle manning the middle, Raji is exactly that.
10. San Francisco 49ers - Aaron Maybin, DE (Penn State) - The 49ers need a pass rushing defensive end and Maybin's got the quickest step in the 2009 Draft class.
11. Buffalo Bills - Tyson Jackson, DE (LSU): The Bills always reach in the first round. This one will be helpful down the road - way down the road.
12. Denver Broncos - Robert Ayers, DE (Tennessee): The Broncos won't reach for a quarterback here with needs on the defensive line. Ayers is the best option available to suit their needs.
13. Washington Redskins - Brian Cushing, OLB (USC): After acquiring free agent Albert Haynesworth the Redskins look to pad their defense by adding another big playmaker with the USC standout linebacker Brian Cushing.
14. New Orleans Saints - Malcolm Jenkins, DB (Ohio State): There's talk of the Saints going with a running back here, but they need much more help on the other side of the ball. Jenkins can play anywhere in the defensive backfield and adds big play ability to the Saints defense.
15. Houston Texans - Knowshon Moreno, RB (Georgia): Gary Kubiak will want to run the ball more effectively. A backfield including Steve Slaton and Knowshon Moreno would certainly be interesting - and a headache for NFL defenses.
16. San Diego Chargers - Andre Smith, OT (Alabama): Although there are some concerns, San Diego can turn to Alabama's Andre Smith into a mauler at right tackle opposite of Pro-Bowler Marcus McNeil.
*Editor's Note: The 2009 TNJN NFL Mock Draft was done before prior to the Philadelphia Eagles trade for Pro Bowl LT Jason Peters.
