Phoenix, UT's literary and arts magazine, will accept submissions from all UT students, faculty and staff for its fall 2008 issue beginning Tuesday, Sept. 9.
The magazine is published once every fall and spring semester.
This year it has additional staff to help the magazine grow and expand its Web site. The staff plans to include more creative and innovative features to its Web site and this year will include bonus writing pieces that are not featured in the magazine, Phoenix's Editor in Chief Jessica Pollock said.
The magazine also plans to expand its distribution into the greater Knoxville area.
"I want people to be aware of this very unique and creative thing that people can enjoy as well as be apart of,” Pollock said.
The magazine accepts submissions in the form of non-fiction, fiction, poetry, prose, photography, artwork and other uncategorized material. All submitted works will be accepted in hard copy, on slides or on a disk. They also must be accompanied by a submission form, which can be obtained in Room 11 in the Communications Building or from a Phoenix staff member on campus.
The Phoenix staff will be on campus every Tuesday and Thursday for the next two weeks in the Art & Architecture Building and the Humanities Building to answer questions, collect submissions and pass out the necessary forms.
The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, Sept. 24.
Individuals will be notified via e-mail if their work is accepted. In addition, a list of all accepted works will be posted outside of Room 5 in the Communications Building on Oct. 30.
