The Minority Achievement Program, which offers assistance to first-year and transfer minority students, will hold its first Minority Student Symposium on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom.

Faculty and student panels will give classroom advice, discuss student life and highlight issues regarding graduation and professional school, Stephanie Hill, MAP's graduate assistant, said.

"We are looking forward to a great turnout," Hill, a graduate of Howard University who is pursuing her doctorate in sports sociology, said. "We hope to attract students from all over the university."

The symposium is open to all students and dinner will be provided.

MAP has more than 40 mentors who are dedicated to assisting and supporting first-year minority students in making a successful transition to campus life.
