With the election a short 30 days away, the deadline is fast approaching for Tennessee residents to register to vote.
Oct. 6 marks the final day for Tennessee residents to register to vote in the 2008 presidential elections.
If you have not yet registered to vote, take the time when you pass by voter registration tables or go to any library or federally funded public building.
Registration drives will be taking place on Monday in the pedestrian walkway hosted by the Baker Center, College Democrats, College Republicans and various other organizations.
Voter registration booths will also be set up around the University Center and Hodges Library throughout the day.
The requirements to register as a Tennessee voter are as follows:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a resident of Tennessee
- Be at least 18 years old on or before the next election
- Not have been convicted of a felony, or if convicted, have had your full rights of citizenship restored (or have received a pardon)
- Not be adjudicated incompetent by a court of competent jurisdiction (or have been restored to legal capacity)
Registration Deadline: 30 days before the election (Oct. 6, 2008)
Early Voting: Early voting will run from Oct. 15-30 and will take place in county election commission offices and satellite locations around the state.
