In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October, Panhellenic Council teamed up with Delta Delta Delta and Alpha Chi Omega sororities to host a presentation by Andrea Fuller Cooper on Monday, Sept. 29, at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Cooper's presentation, entitled "Kristin's Story," detailed her daughter’s story of acquaintance rape, depression and suicide, in hopes of reaching out to others who may be struggling with the same issues. She educated students on the signs of depression, related statistics, and what others can do to help.

Cooper has presented at more than 300 colleges and 22 conventions, reaching more than 80,000 students since her daughter's death in 1995. Her goal is to visit 12 schools a semester, and this was her third visit to UT since 2001.

Cooper is a member of Florida State's Delta Delta Delta chapter, while her daughter was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority at Baker University. Both sororities teamed up nationally to bring Cooper to various schools throughout the year.
