Although she began as a student, Valarie Budayr is now co-owner of the LearnSweden company. She took six courses from LearnSweden and became good friends with the founder of LearnSweden, Per Svangren, who later asked her to become a business consultant for the company.

She represented LearnSweden at the Swedish Chamber of Commerce meeting in San Diego, California. It was after the successful meeting that Svangren hired her as an official company representative.

As the United States representative for LearnSweden, Budayr helps to advertise and operate her part of the business.

"LearnSweden offers interactive Swedish lessons at beginning, intermediate and advanced levels," Budayr stated.

The company also teaches and administers the Swedex test. This test is in agreement with the standards of the European Language Council and tests reading comprehension, vocabulary, listening comprehension, oral production and written production.

The company prides itself on its interactive capabilities. These capabilities include live online classroom opportunities and self-paced lessons. The company provides a personal touch by having the lessons hand-corrected by a native teacher in Sweden. Also, depending on whether it is a private or group style teaching method, students are able to communicate weekly with their teacher in Sweden as well as their fellow classmates via Skype.

The company began as a private day school run by Per Svangren in Stolkholm, Sweden. It was initially created to help emigrant children keep their Swedish language level at fluency. The now fifteen-year-old company provides education to around four-hundred students annually. The company has now gone global by offering its services in countries such as Australia, Asia and of course, America.

"I love having one foot here and one in Sweden; it's a lot of fun," Budayr I love having one foot here and one in Sweden; it's a lot of fun. Valarie Budayr said.

As the official representative in the United States, Budayr loves being part of LearnSweden because it helps her to keep in touch with Sweden, while also allowing her to share her culture with others.

Budayr described LearnSweden as a creative business. The company creates its own courses and loves to incorperate the culture of Sweden at every opportunity. One method they use to display Sweden's culture is by using scenic photography on their website. These breath-taking photos reflect the love of Sweden that is shared by both founder and co-owner in addition to the general beauty of Sweden itself.
