Jets 34, Titans 13
In a game featuring two of the AFC's best, Brett Favre and the New York Jets (8-3) brought the Titans' perfect season to an end with a crushing road victory.
Favre threw two touchdowns to give the Jets a 20-3 lead heading into the fourth quarter, where Jets running back Leon Washington would take control. Washington had two rushing touchdowns in the quarter, including a 61-yard scamper.
The Jets out-gained the Titans on the ground 192 to 45. Titans' running back LenDale White only had three touches.
Colts 23, Chargers 20
Adam Vinatieri nailed a 51-yard field goal as time expired to give the Colts (7-4) their fourth win in a row.
Peyton Manning executed the game-winning drive after Chargers' kicker Nate Kaeding connected on a 47-yard field goal to tie the game with 1:37 left to play. Manning finished with 255 yards and two touchdowns.
The Chargers drop to 4-7 after losing their fourth game in the last 24 seconds. It is the second time they have lost on the last play of the game this year.
Giants 37, Cardinals 29
The Cardinals (7-4) set out to prove their worth against the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants (10-1).
Eli Manning had other plans. The Giants' quarterback went 26-33 throwing for 240 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Kurt Warner threw for 352 yards and a touchdown but had an interception and a fumble.
Manning and the Giants play their next three games against divisional opponents as they get set for another Super Bowl run.
Falcons 45, Panthers 28
The Falcons (7-4) made their case as an NFC contender by knocking off the first place Panthers (8-3).
Leading 17-13 going into the fourth quarter, Michael Turner exploded for three of his four touchdowns, and the Falcons scored 28 points to ensure the victory. Turner finished with 117 yards on the ground.
Falcons' rookie receiver Harry Douglass did a little bit of everything catching four balls for 92 yards, rushing for a touchdown, and returning a punt 59 yards for a touchdown.
Patriots 48, Dolphins 28
Battling for playoff positions in the AFC, the Patriots (7-4) outlasted the Dolphins (6-5) in a shootout.
The game featured seven lead changes before receiver Randy Moss scored his second touchdown to give the Pats a 24-21 lead in the third quarter. Moss finished with eight catches for 125 yards and three scores.
Matt Cassel became the first quarterback in franchise history to throw for more than 400 yards in consecutive games. Only four players (Dan Fouts, Dan Marino, Phil Simms, and Billy Volek) have accomplished that feat. Cassel finished with 415 yards, three touchdown passes, and one rushing touchdown.
Saints 51, Packers 29
Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints (6-5) returned to the Superdome after a 42-day road trip to blow past the Packers (5-6) in an offensive shootout.
Brees threw four touchdowns going 20-26 and 323 yards. Receivers Marques Colston and Lance Moore each had 70-yard touchdown catches. Moore finished with five catches for 115 yards and two touchdowns. It was Brees' eighth 300-yard game this year.
Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw two touchdowns but had three interceptions, two of which were picked off by Jason David.
Ravens 36, Eagles 7
The Ravens (7-4) used a 24-point fourth quarter to blow out Donovan McNabb and the Eagles (5-5-1).
Safety Ed Reed had two interceptions, one of which was returned 108 yards for a touchdown to contribute to the big fourth quarter for the Ravens. The 108-yard return is longest interception return in NFL history. The previous record,106 yards, was also held by Reed.
Also in the fourth, Joe Flacco hooked up with Mark Clayton for a 53-yard touchdown pass.
McNabb threw two interceptions and was replaced at halftime by backup Kevin Kolb, who threw two interceptions as well.
Buccaneers 38, Lions 20
After jumping out to a 17-0 lead, the Lions (0-11) watched as the Bucs (7-4) scored 35 unanswered points in a come-from-behind victory.
Quarterback Jeff Garcia had a solid game going 13-18, 165 yards and two touchdowns. On the other hand, Daunte Culpepper was 8-20 with two interceptions. Cornerback Ronde Barber returned one interception 65 yards for a touchdown,
Running back Warrick Dunn rushed for 90 yards and touchdown,
Cowboys 35, 49ers 22
Receiver Terrell Owens exploded for 7 catches, 215 yards, and a touchdown in the Cowboys (7-4) win over the 49ers (3-8).
In his second game back from injury, Tony Romo threw for 341 yards and three touchdowns. With Romo back at the reigns the Cowboys look to be a contender again. In the three games without Romo, the Cowboys averaged only 12 points per game.
Owens' 75-yard touchdown catch sparked a 22-point second quarter for the Cowboys.
Redskins 20, Seahawks 17
Down 10-7 at halftime, the Redskins escaped from Seattle with a win and improve to 7-4.
Running back Clinton Portis carried the load for the 'Skins rushing for 143 yards on 29 carries. It was Portis' sixth 100-yard game of the year.
Redskins' defensive backs Laron Landry and Shawn Springs both intercepted Seahawks' quarterback Matt Hasselbeck.
Oakland 31, Broncos 10
In their first win since Week 7, Jamarcus Russell and the 3-8 Raiders shocked the Broncos, who drop to 6-5.
Russell managed the game as well as he ever has in the NFL, completing 10 of his 11 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown.
Justin Fargas led the way for the Raiders on the ground rushing for 127 yards. Rookie running back Darren McFadden added 38 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
For the second week in a row, the Raiders' Johnnie Lee Higgins returned a punt for a touchdown (89 yards).
Vikings 30, Jaguars 12
Taking advantage of a sleepy Jaguars (4-7) club, the Vikings (6-5) scored 14 points in the first two minutes and keep pace in the NFC North title race with a win.
Vikings defensive tackle Napoleon Harris recovered a botched a snap on the first play of the game and returned it 24 yards for the score. On the ensuing kick-off, the Vikings recovered a muffed catch and scored three plays later on a Chester Taylor score.
The Jags had three fumbles, three sacks, eight penalties, and two interceptions in the loss.
Bears 27, Rams 3
The Bears (6-5) took care of business in St. Louis to retain a share of first place in the NFC North.
Linebacker Lance Briggs had two of the four interceptions that the Bears defense forced Trent Green to throw.
On offense, rookie running back Matt Forte had a big day rushing for 132 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown,
Bills 54, Chiefs 21
After losing four games in a row, the Bills (6-5) finally get a win as they blow out the Chiefs (1-10).
Quarterback Trent Edwards completed 24 of 32 passes, throwing for 273 yards and two touchdowns. Edwards added 38 yards on the ground and two rushing scores.
Rookie cornerback Leodis McKelvin had two interceptions and returned one for a 64-yard touchdown.
At 6-5 the Bills are in last place of the AFC East but still in the playoff hunt.
Steelers 27, Bengals 10
Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers moved to 8-3 with a win over the Bengals (1-9-1).
In another solid start, Roethlisberger threw for 243 yards and a touchdown. He also scored on a rushing touchdown. Pittsburgh faces a big challenge next week when they travel to New England to face off against the 7-4 Patriots.
Texans 16, Browns 6
Sage Rosenfels threw a 17-yard touchdown to Kevin Walter in the first quarter to give the Texans (4-7) an early lead over the Browns (4-7).
After that, the Texans and Browns combined to kick five field goals. To make things worse, no field goal was more than 36 yards long in the Texans victory.
