UT's Relay for Life will host the "Protect your Balls" dodgeball tournament, Nov. 15, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the TRECs to help raise money for The American Cancer Society, and also to raise awareness for testicular and prostate cancer.
The entry fee is $60 per team of six. To sign up, teams can send an email to relay@utk.edu or sign up at the event.
The theme of the tournament isn't merely a pun, but also directly correlates with what the event hopes to bring awareness for.
"While women are encouraged and welcome to participate, this is a fundraiser aimed at men." Drew Rutherford, executive chairperson for Relay for Life at UT, said. "It is surprising, but the majority of men who have testicular cancer fall within the college age group."
They are also hoping the tournament will increase participation from fraternities.
"We traditionally don't have much support from fraternities, and we felt that a dodge ball tournament would be a great way to get them involved along with anyone else who enjoys competition," he said.
Trophies and prizes will be handed out as well as a t-shirt for every participant.
