In a game that was supposed to begin the Vols' late season push for a bowl game, Tennessee saw itself drop its homecoming event 13-7 to the Wyoming Cowboys.
UT hasn't lost a non-conference home game to a non-BCS team (except Notre Dame) since Oct. 11, 1986, when Army upset the Vols 25-21.
After quarterback Nick Stephens threw two first-half interceptions, Jonathan Crompton came in to finish the game. Crompton finished the day 11-of-27 for 91 yards and one touchdown. Although his numbers weren't great, head coach Phillip Fulmer thought Crompton did a good job of managing the game.

"Our quarterback play has been less than what we would like to have," Fulmer said. "I did think Jonathan (Crompton) came into the game and threw it around and competed and kept us in the game."
With Fulmer's announcement earlier this week, he thinks his players did their best for as long as they could.
"(The players are) 18- to 22-years-old," he said. "There were a lot of emotions throughout the week. Youth is very resilient, but it's been a tough week.
"But that shouldn't have caused a ball to be intercepted. If we don't throw those, we win 7-0, I guess."
The Vols were able to move the ball with more efficiency than past games, picking up 15 first downs. The offense was only able to gain 219 yards while Wyoming picked up 266 yards of total offense, including 167 rushing yards, the second most the Vols have allowed all season.
"They ran the ball on us better than I thought they would overall," Fulmer said. "But I thought our defense played well enough to win the game. Offensively, we just didn't get it done--again."
Tennessee has a bye next week and will look at all their options, including third-string quarterback B.J. Coleman in practice this week.
"The full speed work we've been doing for the last four weeks has helped B.J," Fulmer added. "Do we think that's the catch-all answer? He's got a really good demeanor, he's smart. He's got some real fundamental things that he needs to get better, purely footwork, tripping guards in the run game and getting his feet stepped on, things that you can't do and be efficient."
"He's real good. He'll be playing in the NFL." Wyoming quarterback Chris Stutzriem on Eric Berry
"Right now, we'll look at anything."
Seven different receivers caught passes for Tennessee, totaling 14 receptions for 118 yards. Gerald Jones was the leader for the day, catching five passes for 37 yards and UT's only touchdown. Crompton applauded the efforts of his pass-catchers.
"We're playing with six, seven, eight receivers that can't walk after the game, can't raise their arms," Crompton said. "...For anybody to say they dropped a pass here or dropped a pass there, I don't want to hear that at all.
"I don't want to hear anything about the o-line, the running backs, the defense. And I especially don't want to hear anything about the coaches."
Safety Eric Berry only had five tackles Saturday. More importantly, he didn't force a turnover, which has become his niche this season.
"That guy is good," Wyoming quarterback Chris Stutzriem said. "He's real good. He'll be playing in the NFL. He's a great player and we did want to stay away from him most of the day."
