Exams are a tremendously emotional, tiresome, and stressful time in a student's life. Hopefully these few tips will help make this year's exams a little easier to handle.
"It is always so hard to find a quiet place to study. I go to the periodical section on the first floor of Hodges Library. I can always find a quiet place to study there," Amy Sweeton said. "I also go to the Law Library or the Art and Architecture Building if Hodges in completely full."
Christin Lyle walked into the library Tuesday night with a large stapled packet that looked like a complete study guide.
"I'm studying for an advertising class. I got this study guide from another friend who got it from her sorority's study files," said Lyle.
According to Lyle, many sororities and fraternities have test files stored away. Some of the test files are filled with old tests, but the files are mostly filled with old study guides students have made for classes. These can be an excellent reference to assist a student while studying.
Near the end of the semester students are low on cash, and the $4 drinks at Star Bucks are hard to resist. Some students have alternate solutions to the high priced coffees.
"I have discovered the perfect, cheap coffee drink that tastes amazing. Instead of spending $3.50 for a tall, white chocolate mocha, I order a tall, coffee with a shot of white chocolate. It tastes the same, has fewer calories, and cost a lot less," said Bo Howland.
A bystander in the library cannot help notice students with a calculator attempting to calculate their grades. Many students wonder what they can make on a final exam to make a certain letter grade in the class, or even pass the class. Another tip Sweeton gave is to make a spreadsheet using the Microsoft Excel 2007 version. There is a grade template that is extremely easy to use and helpful to calculate grades.
These suggestions were from students at the University of Tennessee.
Exams can be a difficult time and hopefully these tips will help students make their desired grades and perform exceptionally on their final exams.
