Opening new doors on summer plans

School is closing in on the end and for those who have already finished your exams, like me, school has just been about moving out (and comforting a friend who is studying for organic chemistry).

Things are finally coming to a close. Let me insinuate the "finally". Yet as we pack up all our books and cart away the clothes, summer plans seem to be changing.

The minute students enter college they have to understand that in order to get a job in the real world, they need to have a real world experience. No, I am not talking about the television show.

Internships, the mere word seems to end all of your summer plans, but I have come to learn that internships can offer you so much more. Some may call them overrated, but I would have to say internships offer you insight.

I like to do something which will improve my lifestlye and yes, that does include second session summer school.
While it may cramp your summer fun, I found ways to compensate for taking away my break. Like applying for internships that are in different countries. Look into Europe or South America and you will find plenty of fun filled options that go with the careers that interest you. By interning abroad you provide yourself with better experience, and everyone knows this will make the future employers happy.

Now if you aren't up for working during your time off, then enjoy your summer. Because the rest of us who are trying to get out in four years or less are taking summer school. Get a job so that you have more money during the actual school year instead of mooching off of your parents. Vacation in some place other than Mexico or Europe, or even try volunteering for Red Cross or another such organization.

Me, on the other hand, my summers are always full. Whether I am volunteering at the hospital or walking dogs at the local shelter. I like to spend my summers doing something which will improve my lifestyle and yes, that does include second session summer school. Woo Hoo.
