FOCUS is one of three groups running for office in the SGA elections this year.

Candidates of FOCUS are: presidential candidtate James Akins, a junior in Public Administration, vice-presidential candidate Jennifer Wilson, a junior in Sociology and candidate for Director of Student Services Tamera Malone, a junior majoring in Legal Studies and Enterprise Management according to the FOCUS Web site.

The name FOCUS came from the idea that the group had several goals or points they wanted to focus on during the campaign.

We also want to focus on our communication between the administrating and the student body and on getting students more involved in SGA. FOCUS candidate for Director of Student Services Tamera Malone"The four main points for FOCUS are: diversity, academics, safety and the students," said Malone. "We also want to focus on our communication between the administration and the student body and on getting students more involved in SGA."

FOCUS believes they have the best approach to accomplish things in SGA and are different than the other campaigns becuase of their diversity.

"We all come from different aspects of campus, different backgrounds and we have different things that we can bring to the table," Malone said referring to the diversity in the FOCUS campaign.

"We have a better approach at actually getting these things done on campus," she continued. "We've been involved in several organizations that give us the necessary skills to actually run an effective SGA next year."

Elections will be held on Tuesday April 1 and Wednesday April 2. Students can vote online by visiting the FOCUS Web site or UT's SGA election comisson Web site.
