March Madness is still in full effect for the Lady Vols' basketball team, but other teams at UT had to suit up and play this weekend too.

  • Lady Vols’ Tennis: The women took care of business on Friday beating Auburn 4-3 and on Sunday beating Alabam 7-0. It was Senior Day on Sunday and Ghizela Schutte left Rocky Top in winning fashion with victories in doubles and singles matches. UT is now 13-5 and 6-2 in conference play.
  • Lady Vols’ Softball: The softball team went to Auburn this weekend and lost the series two games to one. The Lady Vols won the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday 8-4. Tonya Callahan and Erinn Webb both hit home runs leading Tennessee to a 14-hit barrage. Webb also hit a triple on her way to a 3-for-4 day at the plate. UT will host ETSU on Wednesday in another doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.
  • Lady Vols’ Golf: The women’s golf team ended its season at the Bryan National Collegiate in Browns Summit, N.C. The 17th-ranked squad tied for 11th place at the event after tallying a team total 320 on Sunday. Senior Marci Turner and sophomore Angela Oh led their team with three-day totals of 231. The Lady Vols get some time off to prepare for the Southeastern Conference Tournament which begins April 18.
  • Lady Vols' Track and Field: The No. 21 track and field team won four events at the Hurricane Challenge this weekend in Miami, Fla. The day included wins in the hammer throw, 400m dash, 1500m run and the pole vault.  Shanna Dickenson led the UT by earning two births at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
  • Swimming & Diving: The men’s swim team finished their season on Saturday by placing ninth at the NCAA Championships. The team received All-American honors in three relays and two individual events.
  • Tennis: The 12th-ranked men’s tennis team won its fourth consecutive SEC match Sunday beating Alabama 5-1 to improve to 6-2 in league play. The Vols defeated Auburn 4-3 on Friday. The Vols resume play on Friday when they host the Vanderbilt Commodores.
  • Baseball: The baseball team could not win their series against the Auburn Tigers. The Vols only win was on Saturday when they beat the Tigers 8-4 in 11 innings. UT overcame a four-run deficit and responded with 17 hits. Reliever Danny Wiltz pitched a career-high 6 2/3 innings giving up only one hit and striking out four batters. The Vols are now 16-8 and 5-3 in the SEC. UT visits Cookeville on Tuesday to take on Tennessee Tech.  
  • Men's Track and Field: The third-ranked squad earned two victories Saturday at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta. The event was called off due to lightning. Jangy Addy recorded regional-qualifying marks. Addy finished in second place of the 110 hurdles and seventh of the shot put. The Vols will visit Auburn this Friday for the Tiger Track Classic.
