Rose Red Elk, or Wieka Luta Win, is a Native American singer, songwriter, and storyteller from the Sioux/AssI am a professional singer/songwriter, and I travel throughout the world telling stoires and singing sRed Rose Elkongs.iniboine tribes. She was recently invited to The Univeristy of Tennessee by the Women's Coordinating Council to share her stories and wisdom with students and staff alike. On Thursday, March 27, she held a stress-management class at noon and a storytelling performance at 7 p.m. at the UT International House. Her presence drew in, not only students, but other residents from Knoxville and neighboring counties.
Her personal goal is to share her culture's traditions with many other cultures, in hopes that one day there will be peace and harmony between the different nationalities of the world. She also expresses her concern for conservation of Mother Earth and speaks of a better future for all cultures. She is the winner of a Native American Music Award for the Spoken Word catagory and has received many other awards and nominations in the field of music and storytelling.
Dressed in traditional Native American dress, she tells her stories and sings her songs, which are inspired by many different sources. Her stories and songs come from other stories and songs passed down from generation to generation. She also draws inspiration from the people around her and the current events of the world, as well as her very own dreams.
She has three degrees in the three different fields of Business, Electronic Technology and Socialogy from Texas A&M University.
During the month of April, she will be traveling to the Middle East because she has recently been asked by the Turkish Embassy, as well as the Embassy of Pakistan, to come and share her stories and songs.
Her performance is a mixture of ancient tradition and modern-day techniques, which create an enjoyable blend of life lessons and pure entertainment.
