The Tennessee Volunteers completed their second day of full pads practice this spring in preparation for a team scrimmage this Saturday, and head coach Philip Fulmer was pleased with practice and is looking forward to the scrimmage.

"It was good to get our first scrimmage work done," said Fulmer. "I would certainly deem it as productive. There were some good plays. It will be great film study."

There have been a few standouts in the practice so far with Lennon Creer and Cody Sullins shining on the offensive side and Nick Reveiz playing well on defense.

"Lennon Creer had an outstanding effort," said Fulmer. "Nick is a guy who is going to give you everything he's got on every play. He's played well for us already.

"On the otherside, Cody Sullins at center has proven he can play and help the football team."

Despite having a relatively good practice day, the team does have things they need to work on this spring.

"We got to do a lot better job taking care of the football," said Fulmer. "We had two turnovers in a 35 to 40 play scrimmage.

"Spring practice is about players," Fulmer said. "We're established in several positions but we're trying to build depth and trying to work at finding the right position for some guys. You're still looking for players who can help."

The football team also suffered a loss today when Jeff Cottam was lost with a fractured fibula. The injury will keep Cottam out of spring workouts but will likely not affect him this coming fall.

The Vols scrimmage on Saturday is a wrap-up to the UT Coaching Clinic held on Friday and Saturday.
