Rose Red Elk or Weika Luta Win, is a Native American singer, songwriter, author and storyteller who will be presenting her talents at The University of Tennessee. She shares her talents in a mix of songs and stories to the public in an effort to keep her culture and the Native American tradition of storytelling alive and recognized by other cultures and people groups. She blends the old and new tradtions of today's culture in an attempt to teach her audience the importance of cultural traditions. Her performance is internationally known and said to leave her audience captivated and spell-bound.
This special is presented by the Women's Coordinating Council and is open to the public. Rose Red Elk will be leading a stress-management workshop at 12 p.m. and a music performance at 7p.m., on Thursday, Mar. 27. The events are free and will be held in the International House Great Room.
