Worldview is a weekly international news program at The Volunteer Channel, the student run television station at UT. What began solely as an international newscast has transformed into a program featuring global events, culture and exchange students at UT.
After taking over the newscast as producer and anchor last August, I decided to recreate the program to more than just an international newscast.
The program now features UT exchange students from all over the world. After each news story is reported, the international guests express their point of view on the current events. They then give insight into their culture, transition to life in the United States and opinions about American culture.
Some countries that have been represented on the show are Spain, Argentina, Northern Ireland, Brazil, Finland, Sweden, China, Japan, Korea, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Italy, Ireland, England, Guatemala, Mongolia and Denmark.
Nial Foster from Northern Ireland is a frequent guest on the show. He says that Worldview "gives international students a way to express themselves on media outlet. As a journalism student, it has given me an opportunity to go on broadcast television and talk about my home country."
As producer and host of the program, I have enjoyed watching it grow into a program that offers UT students a firsthand view into other cultures.
It's easy to get stuck in the Knoxville bubble, so I hope to get people looking outside of Tennessee. Worldview dispels stereotypes about foreign cultures, and I hope it encourages study abroad and learning about other countries.
Worldview also examines American culture as outsiders give a unique stance on the American way of life.
Tune in to Worldview on Comcast Channel 194 or Channel 65 on campus. It airs Fridays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 7 a.m., 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Kudos for your initiative on this program. Hopefully it will impart valuable information to UT students, give the exchange students an opportunity to share their lives, and encourage more US students to study abroad.
