Tonya Callahan is now tied for the all-time RBI record at the University of Tennessee.

Callahan had three RBIs to help the Lady Vols beat Tennessee State in a doubleheader on Wednesday night. The RBIs brough her total to 203, tying her with Kristi Durant for the all-time UT mark.

The Lady Vols (23-3) took it to TSU (6-12) in game one after a tough series against Alabama over the weekend where they were only able to get one win in three games. Tennessee played the minimum amount of innings by scoring five runs in the bottom of the fifth to win by the blowout rule, 9-1.

Megan Rhodes pitched all five innings for the Lady Vols, allowing only one run on two hits and two walks while striking out six.

Callahan started the scoring for Tennessee in the bottom of the first with her fifth home run on the season, and she would finish with two RBIs in the game.

Kelly Grieve had a perfect day in the leadoff position for the Lady Vols going 3-for-3 with an RBI walk. She also stole second in the third to allow Kenora Posey to steal home and score the eventual winning run.

Shannon Doepking also had a perfect day at the plate with two hits and a walk. She also had two RBIs in the third on a single that brought home Lillian Hammond and Grieve.

The Lady Vols again were able to handle TSU in game two, winning 4-1. Tennessee scored one run in four different innings to pick up the win.

Hammond singled in the second to score Jennifer Lapicki and take the lead for good. Hammond finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base in game two.

Lapicki also had a big game going 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI double.

However, the most important RBI of the night came in the fifth inning when Callahan singled to score Posey from second to tie Durant atop the Tennessee record book.

Ashton Ward had five strikeouts in four innings pitched while allowing only one hit and two walks. Rhodes pitched the final three innings, and struck out three while allowing one hit, three walks and one run.

Callahan will have a chance to become the sole RBI leader for UT softball when the Lady Vols take on Kentucky this weekend in a three-game series. They will play a doubleheader on Saturday with games at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. with the finale coming Sunday at 1 p.m.
