The Tennessee Volunteers improved to 7-4 on the season as they completed a sweep of the Eastern Michigan Eagles in a double-header Sunday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Eagles fell to 0-13 on the season with the losses.

"It's good to get the sweep," coach Todd Raleigh said after the pair of wins. "I was proud of the way we came back in the first game."

The Vols were forced to rally to an 8-7 win in 10 innings in the first game and cruised to a 5-1 win in the seven-inning second game. The combined 17 innings lasted nearly seven hours.

Cody Brown and Kentrail Davis led the Vols in both games as they combined for seven hits in 15 plate appearances with seven RBI and six runs scored.

Tennessee got the scoring started in the opening game as Andy Simunic, P.J. Polk and Kentrail Davis all singled to load the bases in the bottom of the first. The Vols then scored on a walk, a Josh Liles RBI groundout and a wild pitch to take a 3-0 lead.

Eastern Michigan's Zack Leonard responded in the second with a two-run home run over the left field fence to bring his team within one.

However, Cody Brown answered the score in the bottom of the inning with his 10th RBI of the season. Cody Grisham came into score on the hit by Brown, and Davis also scored on the play by way of an Eastern Michigan error.

The winless Eagles once again answered as they scored three runs in the top of the third. Aaron Powell drove in two runs on a double and Zack Leonard followed by driving home Powell to tie the game at five.

Kentrail Davis continued his offensive prowess in the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run. The Vols clung to a 6-5 through next four innings before Vols closer Jeff Lockwood blew the save opportunity in an eventful ninth inning.

Aaron Crooks led off the inning for Eastern Michigan with a double to left field. Crooks then advanced to third as Michael Boyd reached base a bunt single. The two base runners would score later in the inning to give the Eagles their first lead of the day.

Tennessee came to the plate in the bottom of the ninth facing it's first deficit of the afternoon, but found a way to respond. Lockwood drew a walk with one out and pinch-runner Alan Wright managed to steal second. Shawn Griffin then doubled to score Wright and tie the game.

Wright then found himself in the spotlight again in the bottom of the tenth after Cody Brown singled with two outs and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Wright then scored the first hit of his collegiate career on a single to left field for the game winning RBI.

"It was exciting," Wright said following the game. "You have to be ready coming off the bench, I was just excited to get in there and get the job done."

Nick Hernandez last 4 1/3 innings in his third start of the season before Ty'relle Harris made his first appearance as a Vol in relief of Hernandez.

I was just excited to get in there and get the job done. Alan Wright, following his game-winning hit

Harris was solid in his outing as he retired all seven batters he faced. The transfer from Sacramento City College was cleared to play on Friday after complications with his junior college transcript.

Jeff Lockwood and Danny Wiltz also pitched one inning apiece. Lockwood gave two earned runs on three hits and Wiltz allowed no hits and struck out two in the tenth to pick up the win.

In the second game of the double-header, Brown and Davis picked up where they left off to lead the Vols to the series sweep.

Eastern Michigan got on the board early in the contest when. Zack Leonard scored on a single by Steve Bradshaw.

Davis responded for the Vols with yet another RBI when Andy Simunic scored from second base in the bottom half of the first.

The run scored by Eastern Michigan in the first frame would prove to be their last as Bryan Morgado and Aaron Everett silenced the Eagles the rest of the game with six scoreless innings, allowing only six hits while striking out 13.

Morgado struck out nine batters in five innings to bring his strikeout total to 31 in just three starts. Everett went two innings in relief to pick up his first save as a Vol.

Davis brought in Simunic for the second time in the game and Brown followed with a two-run home run to right-center field in the fifth inning to give the Vols their first lead of the second game.

Tennessee added its fifth and final run in the sixth inning when Simunic stole home on a double steal.

The Vols will return to action on Tuesday against the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
