In fall 2008, UT will have a new master's degree program in the College of Business Administration. The human resource management degree is designed for managers who wish to improve their leadership and managerial skills in public, private and nonprofit organizations.

A Business Administration major with a concentration in human resource development is a doctorate degree, while the Human Resource Management major is a master's.

The master's program is a non-thesis program and has 33 hours of course work. It requires either an internship or a project during its completion. Students without a baccalaureate degree in business administration will also be required to complete coursework.

Applications for the master's program can be found at the college's Web site, and students have until May 1 to submit them. They also must be accepted into the University of Tennesse Graduate Program to be admitted into the human resource program, and must have taken the Graduate Record Exam or the Graduate Management Admission Test to qualify for the program.

The program hopes to have 25-40 students, but is not putting a cap on the amount of students that can participate. On completion of the program, students will be qualified to take the Professional in Human Resource certification exam.
