UT hosted best-selling author and speaker Jean-Marc Hachey in the UC Auditorium March 3–4. Hachey, author of "The BIG Guide to Living and Working Overseas," spoke to students about the benefits of having international experience in today's world.
Hachey encouraged students to persuade their professors to incorporate global projects into the classroom. He believes that in order to have an international resume when leaving college, students should have at least four examples of working with different countries and cultures.
Hachey also said students seeking a four-year degree should plan on graduating in five years to allow time to travel abroad and develop their international resume.
"International recruiters are looking for people who are different, people with a high international IQ.Jean-Marc Hachey, author of "The BIG Guide to Living and Workign Overseas"International recruiters are looking for people who are different, people with a high international IQ," he said. Having international experience on your resume will automatically place you at a higher standing than a candidate without international experience, he said.
Hachey also provided students with valuable skills on how to structure an actual international resume. He highlighted ways to organize a resume to match an employer's ideal profile. He also described things that should be included in an international resume, such as previous work experience and cross-cultural skills.Hachey also said the ability to speak or understand another language is very important in finding an international job. He provided the students with examples of correct resumes, as well as incorrect resumes that wouldn't appeal to an international employer.
Students who attended either seminar were given a packet that included information from Hachey's book.
