Prepare for a night of music and discussion when author and professor Dr. Cornel West and Black Men Who Mean Business make a stop at UT Tuesday night for the "Sound of Black Tour."
The event, sponsored by the Black Cultural Programming Committee, the Hodges Better Fund of UT's Department of English and UT's Department of Philosophy, will take place at Cox Auditorium Tuesday, March 4 at 7 p.m. It is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and a reception is to follow in the University Center Ballroom.
Black Men Who Mean Business recently released "Never Forget: A Journey of Revelations," a CD that addresses current issues such as racism, politics, the war in Iraq and terrorism. The CD project was written and co-produced by Mike Dailey and Clifton West, brother of Cornel West. The CD includes music from hip-hop and R&B artists such as Andre 300, Prince and Neo Abassy as well as several others.
Black Men Who Mean Business will perform songs from their recently released album Tuesday night, and Cornel West will be discussing the issues in a Q&A session following the musical performance.
