Best-selling writer and expert on international studies, Jean-Marc Hachey, will be giving two of his most popular seminars in the University Center Auditorium this week. Hachey is best known for authoring "The BIG Guide to Living and Working Overseas," a book geared toward college students who want to begin gaining international experience and ultimately hope to find a professional international job.

Hachey will give his first seminar, Global Career Skills, at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 3. His speech will provide helpful tips to anyone interested in going abroad to study, volunteer, intern, teach, travel or work.  Hachey will elaborate on what skills are necessary to be successful overseas, as well as giving a general idea on how to find jobs in the global market.

The second seminar, will take place at 3:30 p.m. on March 4. This speech, titled "The International Job Search," will review and expand on topics mentioned in the first seminar. It will focus on writing international resumes that highlight desired skills for worldwide employees.  The second seminar targets graduate students and senior undergraduate students and gives helpful tips on how to understand global job-hunting style.  This speech is also recommended for international students studying at UT, as it will also cover characteristics of the North American resume style.

When asked about his work, Hachey said, "One of the wonderful aspects of being the author of a successful international career guide is hearing how it so profoundly affects people's lives.Jean-Marc HacheyOne of the wonderful aspects of being the author of a successful international career guide is hearing how it so profoundly affects people's lives. When you are old and in a wheel chair, you will still remember what year you went abroad. Whether you are volunteering, backpacking, studying or interning, you can be assured that your first experiences overseas will be life changing. Like many before you, you may even become addicted to living and working overseas."

Both seminars will last two hours and will include a chance for Hachey to field questions. Hachey's book will be on sale following the seminars for $40.
