The University of Tennessee Study Abroad program held an information fair on campus Tuesday with students and faculty on hand to answer questions.
The program is part of UT's Ready for the World initiative, which seeks to give students the international experience they need to succeed in light of increasing globalization. Students are strongly encouraged to study abroad in order to gain a new perspective on the world outside of the U.S. and enhance their learning experiences.
UT student Hannah Choate encouraged students to research the program options early. Nurhaya Muchtar, an assistant with the College of Communication and Information's Internationalization and Outreach Program, said the university desires to increase the number of students studying abroad. More than 700 students studied abroad last year.
Financial aid is available for studying abroad and in most cases UT and Tennessee HOPE scholarships will apply to the programs. More information on financial aid is available at the financial aid office.
