Track athlete Rubin Williams is a star.  With goals to be on the 2008 Olympic track team, and win the Olympic Gold medal he's unstoppable, but first he has to take care of business at home on the University of Tennessee track team.

Rubin Williams is one of the best at running the 200 meter relay and 100 meter relay and he's not shy about it, but its not for the reasons many other athletes would tell you.  He's very modest about his talent, but doesn't deny he's good.

Williams says, "I do consider myself the best because of my work ethic, not for the fame or glory, but for the love of the sport."  His main goal for the season is to become a member of the Olympic team, but before he does that, he has to take care of some business on the home track.  He knows he has to run the 200 meter race under 20 seconds and the 100 meter race under 10.

Although Williams has been running track since the seventh grade, he doesn't consider himself to be an expert.  He's content with being well knowledged about his event and maybe helping others with the sport in the future.  Right now, however, its not an option.

Williams says, "Right now, I'm an athlete, not a coach.  A good athlete doesn't make a good coach.  With my personality, I won't make a good coach because I'm more of an athlete and don't have the patience to be a coach.  I can't do it for them, I would have to teach them how to do it."

Fine tuning the details of his race won't be a problem.  He knows to win he has to believe in his race.  As far as after college goes, Williams plans to continue track and field.

Williams says, "I plan to use track as a job, but not as a career."  For his career, he wants to own his own franchise.  Rubin Williams is an athlete to watch for in the future.

Hey not sure if you will be reading this but I just want to say congratulations on all you have accomplished. I remember like it was yesterday running on the track with you. I hope all is well and I look forward seeing you in the 2008 Olympics. Look me up some time; it would be nice to catch up. Take care and God speed.
