Intramural madness is in the air. In the wake of both the Vols and Lady Vols basketball success, intramural basketball allows students to get in on the action. Games officially tipped off this week for all 4 leagues.
The most sought after championship lies in the Independent Competitive League. This league is where some of the best players on campus compete. For the players looking for a more relaxed league, RecSports offers the Independent Recreational league. This league caters to students who are more concerned about fun than bragging rights. The Co-Rec league lets men and women compete together, and the women's league is strictly for the female players.
Stephen Foust, a competitor in the Independent Recreational and Co-Rec leagues, thoroughly enjoys intramural basketball, "It's the competitiveness, you know, the way we go out there and work like I did back in the day, the glory days in high school. That's what it's all about."
Mary Kauffman, competitor in the Co-Rec league, enjoys the competition for a different reason, "Intramurals give me a chance to exercise with other people," she states, "It's very interactive and involves a lot of communication with people."
Intramurals give students the ability to satiate their competetive appetites, but also to make a few social connections. As a Co-Rec competitor, Foust jokingly says his goals include, "a double-double for every game, and a [girl's] number or two."
Whatever the competitor's needs, RecSports intramurals can meet it. For more information, visit RecSports online or call 974-1000.
