Men's basketball , baseball and softball stole most of the headlines in a huge weekend for Vol athletics, but it was a succesful weekend for all sports on Rocky Top.
- Vols Swimming and Diving: The men finished third overall at the SEC Championships. Andrew Thirlwell won the 200-yard medley championship with a 1:46.32 and Michael Wolfe won the 100-yard backstroke. Tennessee also claimed a championship in the 800-yard freestyle relay with Thirlwell, Wolfe, Nolan Morrell, and Jonas Perrson.
- Vols Track and Field: The Vols completed their last regular season indoor event this weekend. Matthieu Pritchett won the 60-meter final at the Virginia Tech Challenge, setting an NCAA preliminary mark with a time of 6.70.
- Vols Tennis: The tennis team remained perfect in 2008 as they defeated Middle Tennessee State and Murray State on Saturday. No. 20 J.P. Smith and No. 74 Kaden Hensel led the Vols in a 5–2 win over MTSU and a 7–0 win over the Racers.
- Vols Golf: Golf had a third-place finish at the John Hayt Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla. The Vols tied North Florida and finished 13 shots behind Alabama. Charlie Ford led all Vols, finishing in a tie for 13th at three over par.
- Lady Vols Swimming and Diving: The Lady Vols finished fourth in the SEC Championships. Christine Magnuson led the way for the Lady Vols and won the Commissioner's Trophy for earning the most points for her team. Magnuson won the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly championships. Magnuson holds the fastest time in the nation in the 50 -ard freestyle with a 22.03 and holds the third best time in the world with a 1:43.00 in the 200-yard freestyle.
- Lady Vols Tennis: Caitlin Whoriskey and Zsófia Zubor picked up a win in their doubles match to override their individual losses and help give the Lady Vols a win over Virginia 4–3.
This Week
- Lady Vols softball will play Liberty in a double header on Wednesday. The Lady Vols will then travel to Columbus, Ga. to play in the NFCA Leadoff Classic from Friday to Sunday. UT will face Charlotte, Hofstra, Florida State, Illinois State, and Nebraska.
- Lady Vols golf will finish the Puerto Rico Invitational in San Juan, P.R. on Tuesday.
- Both men's and women's tennis will visit Ole Miss on Friday and Mississippi State on Sunday.
- Track and Field will compete at the SEC Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. from Friday to Sunday.
- Men's swimming and diving will hold their NCAA Last Chance Meet on Friday and Saturday in Knoxville.
- Vols baseball will host Austin Peay on Wednesday and travel to the Houston College Classic over the weekend. Tennessee will face Texas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma in Houston.
