The Drudge Report is a professionaly managed news site that offers a wealth of information on a daliy basis.  The site covers everything from politics both home and abroad as well as business and societal issues.  The site, visited over five billion times in the past year, offers unique and valuable information to the masses.

I check it every day, and for good reason!  Mike Walton

Structure

The look of the site is very plain with a white background and plain black text.  The Drudge Report posts links to news stories accompanied by photographs and videos.  The reader can evaluate the headlines and pictures, then determine if particular stories interest them enough to continue on.  A reader can quickly find a topic of interest to follow up on, or have a general sense of the events without even reading the details.  Advertisements are minimal and are kept from being too distracting to the reader.

 Writing

There are little more than headlines authored by the Drudge Report.  They find stories, or have stories delievered to them, and provide links to the actual source for their readers.  The writing found on the Drudge Report leaves nothing to complain about but is not especially unique.

Linking

Links are where the Drudge Report truly shines.  In essance, it is a giant hub of links from all over the web, all relevant to the stories at hand.  The site is based on linking you to the details of whichever story you are interested in.  Drudge Report takes it one step further by offering links to other news companies, reporters, and the Associated Press right on their home page!  The effective use of links is one reason why Drudge Report is incredibly popular.

 Other Services

The Drudge Report does not offer a variety of other services.  Their site is available through mobile phone media .  Still, Drudge Report sticks to what it does best: connect people to information.

Improvements

When one considers the motive of Drudge Report there is little room for improvement.  Their design is appealing and easy on the eyes.  They operate inside the niche of not necesarily creating news, but rather making it availible to the masses.  They use an impecable job of linking giving a reader a truly unlimited venue of information.
