The Lady Vols' tennis team has won five of its seven meets this semester.

Tennessee teams have had another successful weekend, winning a majority of their events.

  • Lady Vols track and field: Several Lady Vols set NCAA provisional qualifying marks over the weekend and Sarah Bowman received an NCAA automatic qualifying mark at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. Bowman set her mark with a fourth place finish in the mile. Phobe Wright won the championship division of the 800 meter event setting a provisional mark. Other top provisional marks included Katie Van Horn in the 5000 meter, Jeneba Tarmoh in the 200 meter final, Alicia Essex in the pole vault and Cleo Tyson in the 60 meter final.
  • Lady Vols tennis: The Lady Vols had close matches against Big Ten opponents Michigan and Indiana. On Friday, UT fell to Michigan 4–3. However, on Sunday they defeated Indiana 4–3. Caitlin Whoriskey went undefeated on the weekend, winning both her singles meets and her two doubles meets with partner Jennifer Meredith.
  • Vols tennis: UT continued to stay undefeated this season with a 6–1 win over Kentucky this weekend in a non-conference match. No.28 Boris Conkic and No. 93 J.P. Smith led the way for the Vols with match wins. Kaden Hensel also had a big match as he defeated No. 31 Bruno Agostinelli of the Wildcats. 
  • Lady Vols softball: The No.4 Lady Vols suffered there first loss of the season but still won three times with one game remaining at the USF Best Western Tourney in Tampa, Fla.
    • On Saturday, Tonya Callahan had three RBIs and Tiffany Huff had two RBIs to help the Lady Vols beat Florida Gulf Coast 6–2. Ashton Ward pitched all 7 innings for the Lady Vols and Erinn Webb hit her first homer of the season.
    • Later that night, Callahan hit for the cycle and her second homer of the season and had three more RBIs to lead UT past Hofstra 6–1. Megan Rhodes had seven strikeouts for the Lady Vols.
    • In the early game on Sunday, Lillian Hammond and Kenora Posey both stole bases and scored in the third to give UT a 2–0 win over Ole Miss. Rhodes and Ward both pitched for the shutout.
    • Sunday afternoon, the Lady Vols suffered their first loss of the year to host team USF 4–1. Ward and Rhodes combined for nine walks which allowed USF to put up four runs in the late innings.
    • The Lady Vols completed the weekend on a successful note by putting together a five-run fourth inning to get back to their winning ways, defeating Florida A&M 5–1. Ward picked up her sixth win of the season, going four innings and striking out three batters. Danielle Pieroni pitched the final three innings.

This Week

  • The swimming and diving teams will be at the SEC Championships in Tuscaloosa, Ala. From Wednesday to Saturday.
  • Lady Vols softball will play in the Tennessee Classic here at UT from Friday to Sunday. They will play BYU and Virginia twice each, with single games against Wagner and Louisiana-Monroe.
  • Lady Vols tennis will visit Virginia on Sunday.
  • Lady Vols golf will start the Puerto Rico Invitational in San Juan, P.R. on Sunday.
  • Vols tennis will host Middle Tennessee State and Murray State in a double-header on Saturday at UT.
  • Vols golf will finish up the John Hayt Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla. The meet will be completed Tuesday.
  • Men's track and field will compete at the Virginia Tech Challenge on Saturday.
  • Vols baseball will start its season with three home games against Morehead State from Friday to Sunday.

AND the Ice Vols won both of their games in the ACHA Div 3 South Regional Tournament and received a berth in the ACHA Men's D-3 National Championship.
